Since more and more health care facilities are transitioning to electronic health records, medical billing and coding specialists are able to work from home, providing billing services as independent contractors. Home-based medical billing and coding specialists typically set up a home office with the necessary equipment including a computer with high-speed internet, medical billing and coding software, printer, scanner, fax machine, and telephone system.
Physicians
There are non-clinical Physician careers that enable professionals to work from home, such as medical directors, medical writers, and healthcare executives. Physicians are able to utilize their solid expertise and apply it to other areas of the medical field. They can also start their own business for a particular healthcare product or service.
